Outcome 11 - Mental Health
Question No. E12-067
Senator WRIGHT:
Over the past three years, what component of the total cost of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy has been directed towards specific rural or remote based suicide prevention initiatives (please provide both numerical and percentage values)?
Answer:
2009 - 2010 ($m)
Rural and Remote Expenditure: $7.88
Rural and Remote Percentage of Total: 35.57%
2010 - 2011 ($m)
Rural and Remote Expenditure: $7.62
Rural and Remote Percentage of Total: 32.01%
2011 - 2012 ($m)
Rural and Remote Expenditure: $7.08
Rural and Remote Percentage of Total: 28.93%
Note that some National Suicide Prevention Programs target more than one priority population.
The differences in allocation over financial years can be attributed to:
- projects reaching completion; and
- organisations that are funded through a multi-year agreement with an un-even distribution of funds over the life of the agreement.
