Veterans Affairs
The Greens acknowledge and respect the significant commitment and sacrifice that is made by Australian service personnel and their families. The bravery and resilience of the men and women who represent and protect Australia in conflict zones and peace-keeping missions is both moving and inspiring. We must never forget those who serve our country in times of strife, and that includes not forgetting about their needs when they return home.
Two key priorities in this area are:
- Promoting the health and wellbeing of veterans and their families through improved support programs and better access to appropriate mental health services; and
- A fairer indexation of veterans’ pensions.
In recognising the significant role of Australian service personnel, and the importance of adequately supporting them and their families, the Greens remain steadfastly committed to peaceful and non-violent solutions to conflicts at a local, national and international level.
