Human Rights
One of the Australian Greens’ core principles is that universal human rights must be respected and protected in all countries. Many of the Greens’ policies are geared towards protecting and strengthening includes economic, social, cultural, environmental and political rights in Australia and overseas.
The Greens advocate for reforms in the areas of anti-discrimination, international obligations under human rights treaties, funding of human rights commissioners and consideration of human rights issues in international diplomacy and trade. In Australia the Greens are advocating for human rights in areas including refugee protection, counter-terrorism, marriage equality and anti-discrimination reforms.
